Welcome to Les Ammonites, your spacious and fully equipped three-bedroom/6 guest cottage in the pretty hamlet of Les Chaffauds near Sainte Cecile in the Vendée, France.

This holiday cottage is perfect for families and friends looking for a warm and inviting atmosphere in a tranquil countryside setting. Relax in the comfortable living area, prepare delicious meals in the fully-equipped kitchen, or enjoy a glass of local wine in the garden while taking in the breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape.

Our circular heated pool is perfect for a refreshing dip, and we have a variety of outdoor activities available to keep you entertained. Your friendly hosts are always on hand to provide local insights and recommendations for the best restaurants, beaches, and tourist attractions, including the famous Puy du Fou park.

The facilities at Les Ammonites Holiday Cottage:


Ground Floor: You enter the cottage via a set of 4 steps up to the front door. The ground floor is set out as a large open plan living, dining and kitchen area, where you can see many of the original features of the house - such as oak beams and stone walls. There is a comfortable seating area, with log burning stove for the cooler evenings. The living area also has a TV, DVD player, UK & French free to air satellite channels.
There is a ground floor WC and cloakroom area next to the staircase.

Wi-Fi: Free secure FIBRE WiFi is available in the house, plus a 4G network is available for exterior areas, and there is a selection of books and DVDs for your use.

Kitchen: The well-equipped kitchen has a large range cooker with 5 gas burners/2 halogen burners on the hob, fridge/freezer, washing machine, dishwasher, microwave, kettle, toaster and coffee maker. The dining table seats up to six guests, and can be extended for up to 10 guests so everyone can eat together from both houses. There is plenty of cutlery and crockery for everyone, including plastic utensils for younger children.

Bedrooms: Upstairs, there are three good sized bedrooms, all with fitted wardrobes and bedside tables. One bedroom has a double bed and the other two each have two single beds.

Shower room: The hallway is light and airy and leads to the shower room and separate WC.

Heating: All rooms have radiators for the cooler evenings and there is a wood burning stove in the lounge.

For Children: A cot, highchair and stair gate are available for younger children.

Outdoors: From the living area there is a door leading to the gravelled patio area and enclosed courtyard garden. There is an al fresco dining area with barbecue, tables, chairs and a pergola. The main 2 acre garden is laid to grass and is surrounded by hedges - perfect for ball games or letting off steam at the end of the day! There is also a swing set for the kids and a small orchard where you can pick apples and pears in season.
A great place to watch the sun go down with a glass of the local wine!

Pool: The 4.5 metre circular solar heated above ground pool is open from Mid-may until the end of September. It is heated with a system of water pipes using solar power (so the temperature early in the season can be variable depending upon the weather) There are lots of sun loungers surrounding the pool.

Parking: There is an off-road parking area for up to 3 cars in front of the cottage.

Please note: No bed linens and hand/bath/tea towels are provided during your stay - so you will need to bring your own linens and towels. Pillows, duvets and mattress protectors are provided.

Our two holiday cottages are always reserved together, not individually, so we can cater for up to 10 guests, plus 2 babies, across the two cottages.
